Adult Spirituality

As Catholics, we are called to look at, and understand with a new depth, the mission entrusted to each of us from the moment we emerge from the waters of baptism. We are called to embrace the mission that is our heritage. We are called to join that great cloud of witness, that communion of saints who preceded us, and remain present with us as we are faithful to announcing the good news, which is Jesus Christ, and going forth to “make disciples of all nations.”

Ignatian Spiritual Exercises

Are you looking for a way to deepen your relationship with Jesus?

The Spiritual Exercises will be offered next year at Mother of Sorrows from September 2026 through May 2027.  The Ignatian Spiritual Exercises are a series of meditations, prayers, and reflections developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola to help individuals deepen their relationship with God and discern God’s will in their lives. Originally a 30-day silent retreat, they have been adapted to be made over several months in daily life, and are a foundational practice in Ignatian spirituality. Working with a Spiritual Director, the exercises involve deep reflection, prayer with scripture, and guided contemplation to foster spiritual growth, help remove “inordinate attachments,” and make decisions in a state of “true interior freedom”.

Anne Papinchak, a Mother of Sorrows parishioner, has experienced the Exercises and is a Spiritual Director qualified to lead the Exercises. Contact her at anne.papinchak@gmail.com if you have any questions.
