Music Ministry
Music Ministry
The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the church is directed; it is also the source from which all its power flows. For the goal of apostolic endeavor is that all who are made children of God by faith and Baptism should come together to praise God in the midst of his church, to take part in the sacrifice and to eat the Lord’s Supper. The liturgy, in its turn, moves the faithful filled with “the paschal sacraments” to be “one in their commitment to you”; it prays that “they hold fast in their lives to what they have grasped by their faith” (SC # 10).
Parish Choir
St. Augustine said “Singing is for the one who loves.” Music is therefore a sign of God’s love for us and of our love for Him. Good music “make[s] the liturgical prayers of the Christian community more alive and fervent so that everyone can praise and beseech the Triune God more powerfully, more intently and more effectively.” (Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship)
Choir rehearsals are Thursdays at 7PM. We sing most 9:30AM Masses, holidays, and Intergenerational Evenings. Open to anyone high school aged and up. The ability to read music is helpful, but not required. SATB.
Christmas Eve Children’s Choir
Children of the Parish are invited to sing for the 4PM Christmas Eve Mass. Additional information will be published in the church bulletin in Advent.
Funeral Choir
The Funeral Choir offers music for those who are grieving a loved one. It is not only a ministry of song, but a ministry of consolation, as we stand by one another in times of joy and sorrow.
Cantors
Cantors invite and encourage the full and active participation of the congregation and are selected by the Director of Music after a brief audition and assessment of music and leadership abilities.
Intergenerational Choir
A hybrid-choir of school and parish families that sing for the monthly Intergenerational Mass. No additional rehearsal is required. Just come and sing!
Instrumentalists
Experienced instrumentalists are utilized throughout the year and especially for holidays. Please contact the Director of Liturgy and Music for more information.
